President‘s Beat

Hello Flycasters,

At our annual meeting on Nov. 18, you elected me to be president of our chapter. Also elected were Paul Fromme, secretary, Greg Evans, treasurer, Guy Turenne, at large, and Phil Wright, at large. We also changed our bylaws to have elections in May instead of November, so another election will be held in May of 2010. As you may note, we have no one in the vice president slot and, following the bylaws, appointing a person will be one of our first actions. If you would be willing to help out, we promise to make it as painless as possible. Please contact me.

I would like to express our thanks to our former president, Ken Eis, vice president Jim Lilly, and treasurer Dave Coulson. All have been instrumental in keeping our chapter functioning for the last two years and have contributed much to RMF. I also want to thank Paul Fromme and Greg Evans for coming back to leadership positions. Volunteers such as these are necessary to keep everything going, and all of us need to recognize their contributions.

I will use this method to keep you aware of our activities. During our December Board meeting, I hope we can put together a budget to present to you at our February meeting. I think you all should be aware of where our money comes from and where it goes. We ask for your support often, and I hope to be able to justify your donations.

As you know, Dennis Cook is taking a lead role in increasing our youth outreach. I’m excited about that and hope you all are too. I hope you’re so excited, that you will volunteer some time to help as our plans come together.

They told me in CTU’s leadership training that raising money and raising involvement of members are the hardest part of having a fully functioning chapter. We have a large volunteer base, but not large enough. I hope you’ll find time to help out in the future. Also, I value your input and suggestions and would love to get e-mails from you regarding how to make our chapter better.

That’s enough at this time. I will talk more about specific activities and issues at a later post. In the meantime, I’m off to Steamboat for Thanksgiving and some time on the Yampa with my boys. I hope your Thanksgiving is also good.

Fishing is always good. Here’s hoping the catching is too,

Lee Evans
